• Defense bill to boost CT contractors, including funding to address shortfalls for submarine programs (courant.com) — Groton’s Electric Boat shipyard stands to gain significantly from a new federal defense bill that boosts funding for Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines and related workforce needs. The legislation, now moving through Congress, would help cover prior shortfalls, support higher shipyard output, and strengthen the supply chain tied to Groton. Connecticut lawmakers also highlight added military pay raises and Coast Guard reforms.
   

• Charges Against YouTuber Who Confronted State Trooper Changed: Report (patch.com) — A YouTube creator who filmed a confrontation at a Groton state trooper’s home now faces a reduced trespass charge after more serious counts were dropped. The July incident at the officer’s Groton residence led to the trooper’s suspension, retirement, and a disorderly conduct arrest. Prosecutors have substituted a lesser third-degree trespass charge as the case moves forward.
