Significant Street Reconstruction Project Coming To Noank
A public hearing will be held on a project to reconstruct a major street along with changes to parking, sidewalks, and more.
GROTON, CT — A public hearing will be held on draft plans for the reconstruction of Main Street in Noank, according to the Town of Groton. The meeting will be Jan. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Community Room 1 at Town Hall Annex at 134 Groton Long Point Road.
The plans include full-depth reconstruction of Main Street to correct grading issues and sub-standard pavement structure. Reconstruction will also include portions of Ward Avenue from Main Street to the Noank Firehouse and Pearl Street from Main Street to Potter Street.
The road width will generally be made uniform to provide 11-foot travel lanes and 8-foot wide street parallel parking spaces.

The estimated number of existing on street parking spaces is 72. The new plan will have an estimated 70 parking spaces, the town said.
Existing sidewalks will be replaced with concrete sidewalks and granite curbing. Existing granite curbing will be reused and new granite curbing will be used to replace existing concrete and asphalt curbing throughout the project area.
