Hurricane Irene Came To Connecticut With High Tide, High Winds and Lots Of Rain

Hurricane Irene swept through Groton leaving a wake of downed trees and power lines, causing more than 92 percent of Groton to lose power Sunday. Some residents in certain areas of Groton were asked to evacuate due to fears flooding and some of the residents chose to weather the storm in the Red Cross emergency shelter at Fitch High School.
