Photos & Video: Congressman Courtney Awards Service Medals To Mystic WWII Veteran

WWII veteran Arthur Swan lost his military service medals, which had been kept in the attic, when the family moved in 1995.

On Wednesday, Congressman Joe Courtney presented Swan with relacement medals for his service, at a ceremony at the .

Swan received:

• The Navy Commendation Medal
• World War II Victory Medal
•  American Defense Civil Service Medal
•  American Campaign Medal
•  Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars
•  European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star
•  Navy Occupation Service Medal with Asia Clasp
•  Combat Action Ribbon
•  Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 Bronze Stars
•  Philippine Presidential Unit Citation
•  Normandy Service Medal

Swan served in the Navy from September 1943 to March 1946. A Normandy and WWII veteran, Swan received the 11 service awards years ago, which the Swan family stored in their attic.

According to a press release from Courtney's office, the family recently asked for Courtney’s help in replacing the medals.
