Groton remains under a high wind warning until tonight, but so far has escaped any serious flooding, accidents or power outages, town police and the office of emergency management reported.
"It has not been too bad at all," said Joseph R. Sastre, director of Groton's office of emergency management. "The wind is whipping out there, and it will be for awhile."
Barricades were posted at the underpass on South Road to alert drivers to minor flooding. Route 117 typically floods between the Groton Public Library down Fort Hill Road to Route 1, but remained open today. Groton Police reported no accidents due to the storm.

Sastre said flooding sometimes occurs in homes after rain stops, because water takes awhile to seep into the ground and "kind of works its way into the basement walls." He said Groton is dealing with a combination of heavy rainfall, partially frozen and water-saturated ground, and snow blocking drains along some roads.
Winds may gust as high as 60 mph along the coast later today, according to a storm update posted by the Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security. Moderate rain was expected early this afternoon, with flooding likely in urban areas, the update said.
