Town Obtains Custody of Dogs Seized in Animal Abuse Case

A New London Superior Court Judge on Friday more than quadrupled the bond for a Mystic woman accused of animal cruelty, and the woman agreed to turn over custody of five dogs seized in her home to the Town of Groton Police Department.

Animal Control Officer Donna Duso had been seeking custody of the animals so she could authorize appropriate medical treatment, including spaying one of the female dogs who has a uterine infection.

New London Superior Court Judge Arthur C. Hadden raised the bond for Linda Snow from $50,000 to $250,000 Friday.  Her case was continued until March 11.

Snow, 59, was charged Feb. 17 with criminal impersonation, five counts of cruelty to animals and interfering with police.  She has pleaded not guilty to all charges and has a public defender.

Police found five dogs in her home at 59 Oslo St. suffering from various stages of neglect, according to a police report. She had previously been arrested for animal cruelty for operating a puppy mill in Massachusetts. There were eight warrants out for her arrest, court documents said.
