Woman Found Bleeding in Groton Residence: Police

A 33-year-old Groton man was arrested after allegedly beating a woman until she lost consciousness, police said.

Groton police arrested a man on charges of assault and risk of injury to a minor after he allegedly beat a woman into unconsciousness earlier in the week.

Natanael Rodriguez-Colon, 33, of 246 Branford Ave., reportedly told the woman’s neighbor he beat her up and asked them to call police on Wednesday, Nov. 18, according to The Day.

When police arrived on scene, the woman was sitting near her bathroom in the hallway. Her face was reportedly bruised and bleeding from several cuts. Police said she wasn’t conscious or aware of what occurred to cause her injury. She was transported to a local hospital.

The woman’s two children were in the residence at the time of the alleged assault. Three protective orders were issued for the woman and her children by a New London Superior Court judge.

Rodriguez-Colon was arrested on the following charges and issued a Jan. 7 court date:

  • Assault in the second degree
  • Risk of injury to a minor, two counts
  • Breach of peace in the second degree

Rodriguez-Colon is required to undergo a mental health evaluation, per a judge, after reportedly informing police of his involvement in secret governmental matters.
