GFFE 7th Annual Adult Spelling Bee Big Success
The Guilford Fund for Education held their 7th annual adult spelling bee this weekend and got a big turnout. Congratulations to all the teams and the "Best of the Hive" winners, The Beelievers.

The following is a press release from the Guilford Fund for Education:
The Guilford Fund for Education presented another successful annual adult spelling bee, BEE 7, on Friday, April 5 at the Guilford High School Auditorium. Hundreds of spectators filled the audience to see the team, The Beelievers, win the coveted “Best of the Hive” award for successfully spelling the word “vichyssoise.”
The BEElievers—Mary Barnes, Jonathan Borak, and Jonathan Rubin--- are the first repeat winners in the history of the GFFE Bee. To add to their kudos, the loincloth-clad team members, dressed as witch doctors, also took home the prize for best costume.
Other highlights of the evening included a flash mob of the cast of the upcoming Guilford High School musical, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” some 30-strong, who burst onto the stage and offered a preview of their performance, substituting GFFE lyrics to their songs.
The winners were congratulated by emcee Darren Kramer of WTNH, who hosted the event for the seventh consecutive time. 47 other teams competed in the event, proceeds of which benefit the Guilford Fund for Education’s grants program.
Sponsors of BEE 7 included the Velez Family Fund, Shore Publishing Company, Guilford Savings Bank, MDG Associates, Northeast Medical Group, Bishop’s Orchards, Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale, Loyakk, United Health Care, Agway, Algonquin Industries, Fusco Corporation, Super Wash Laundromat, VelosCT, and the Wireless Zone.
