Guilford Gives Pay Raise, Extension to School Superintendent

Officials have called superintendent one of the best of in the state and a big reason why Guilford schools are considered top notch.

GUILFORD -Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Freeman has had his contract extended through June 30th, 2022 by a vote of the Board of Education.

The board reently voted to extend the Superintendent's contract through June 30, 2022 with compensation increases next year (2019-20) over last year (2018-19) of 2.25% each for salary, vacation buyback and TSA; $2,500 increase of the leadership stipend and $2,000 increase of the car stipend. The compensation during years two and three shall be determined in the future.

Freeman is one of the better paid school superintendents in the area - earning over $220,000 per year.

School officials have consistently praised Freeman, calling him an outstanding school leader and one of the main reasons why Guilford's school system is considered amongst the tops in the state.

Freeman began working as Guilford school superintendent in 2011.
