Guilford Official Receives National Award For 'Outstanding Public Service'
The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to the finance profession, their colleagues, and their community.

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford Finance Director Maryjane Malavasi has been named a recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association’s Recognition for Outstanding Public Service, a national award honoring exemplary contributions to public finance and community service, according to an announcement from the town on Friday.
The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to the finance profession, their colleagues, and the communities they serve.
"Maryjane’s unwavering integrity and expertise have guided Guilford through both periods of growth and times of challenge," said First Selectman Matt Hoey in a prepared statement. "Her commitment to sound financial stewardship has made a lasting positive impact on our community."

Malavasi has been credited with strengthening the town’s financial transparency and long-term fiscal health, the town noted.
"Her work exemplifies the often-unseen yet critical contributions of finance professionals in government, enabling municipalities to provide essential services and plan for a sustainable future," the town said.
