WTNH.com is reporting that 18-year old Matt Zingarella, who attends Guilford High School, was asked to immediately change his shirt that pictured a gun banned in Connecticut and featured the words ‘I Plead the Second’ when he walked into school Monday morning.
According to WTNH, Zingarella “sees nothing wrong with a shirt that expressing his frustration with lawmakers when it comes to guns,” and believed he was not in violation of the dress code.
WTNH states that Guilford Superintendent Paul Freeman would not make any comments about this particular case on camera, “but did say students have been asked before to remove shirts with guns, knives, and grenades, and they cooperated.”
Freeman stated that the school district feels it is these types of images that could “seriously disrupt the educational process.”
