Guilford's Last Independent Bookstore Has New Owners: Report
Breakwater Brooks has now had five different owners since 1972 when it first opened.
GUILFORD, CT – Breakwater Books has new owners after co-owners Richard Parent and his Husband Paul Listro placed Breakwater Brooks up for sale.
Rob and Dani Howard were excited to start their journey as owners of the town's only independent bookstore, according to a news report from CT Insider.
Before making the sale, Parent and Listro told Patch's Rich Kirby they were not in a hurry to sell the bookstore they bought in 2019.

Parent told Patch that business and personal commitments were not leaving time for them to focus on Breakwater Books.
Parent and Listro were the fourth owners of Breakwater Books, which opened in 1972, making Rob and Dani Howard the fifth owners.

Before selling the bookstore, Parent told Patch they had meetings with several people and had quite a few people sign the NDA and get the fact sheet with all the information about the sale.
Parent and Listro's lease is up in three years, at which point they will transfer it to the new owner.
Breakwater Books is located at 81 Whitfield Street in Guilford.
