July 4th Fireworks Fundraising In Full Swing!
Fundraising efforts for Guilford's July 4th fireworks display are underway. Guilford's celebration will be July 13. Keep reading for details on how to help make Guilford's fireworks happen this year!

Several years ago, fireworks at Guilford's celebration of July 4th were cut out of the town budget. That's when Adrian Price, along with several other Guilford residents, started to do private fundraising to make sure Guilford enjoyed fireworks for their celebration, which will take place July 13 this year.
"The first year we did the private fundraising, it was very well received," Price told Guilford Patch. "The second year was a little harder, but we did it. This year we've collected about $1,200 already and I'm excited about our early start."
Fundraising dollars need to hit about $10,000, and donations can be in any dollar amount.
"We have donations that range from kids handing us $1 from their allowance, all the way up to business's donating large amounts," Price said.
What made Price want to get involved with saving Guilford's Fireworks?
"When I first heard about the fireworks being in jeopardy, we were still heavily involved with war oversees," Price explained. "I just didn't think we're in the right time or place to cut a tradition like fireworks."
Price, along with others working on the project like Ed Bartlett, Rick Maynard, and Ray Luden, are trying to make the event better and bigger each year. This year for the celebration, they are increasing food vendors and attractions down at the fairgrounds.
If you're interested in donating, you can bring, or mail, cash or a check to the Park and Rec department, at 32 Church Street, or you can give a donation through the Park and Rec website. Donations are tax deductible.
"If you do donate, every year we create these large signs with donors names, or their business's name, on them at the front stage and entrance at the fairgrounds," Price explained. "It's a nice way to say thank you and acknowledge everyone's efforts in making the fireworks happen."
