The League of Women Voters of East Shore will host a roundtable discussion on the effects of climate-related events on area waterfront properties Monday night.

The following is a press release from The League of Women voters of East Shore:
The League of Women Voters of East Shore will host a roundtable discussion of the effects of climate-related events on area waterfront properties. Members of the state legislature's bipartisan Shoreline Preservation Task Force (SPTF), Town Planners and other local officials, Ct. DEEP and FEMA representatives have been invited to exchange information and suggestions with local residents.
"Implications of Rising Sea-level and Increasing Frequency of Storms on Shoreline Development: Local, State and Federal Guidelines" will take place on Earth Day, Monday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Nathanael B. Greene Community Center, 32 Church Street in Guilford.
The Task Force met throughout 2012 and held three public hearings, including one locally in Branford. Their January 2013 report contained many issues under consideration and resulted in four bills being proposed to the state legislature's Environment Committee. Much work remains to be done and we look forward to this opportunity to share ideas with them for the future development of Ct.'s shoreline.
The SPTF's report, DEEP Commissioner Daniel Esty's February 13 testimony to them and supporting data are all online as "DEEP: Shoreline Preservation Task Force Testimony" at www.ct.gov/deep.
We invite the general public to attend — especially residents in waterfront neighborhoods.
