Scanlon Gives Statement on Passage of American Health Care Act

Scanlon: "The bill passed today by the House Republicans in Congress will be devastating to Connecticut residents."

From the Connecticut General Assembly: Rep. Sean Scanlon (D-Guilford), House chairman of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, released a statement on Thursday following the passage of the American Health Care Act by the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The bill passed today by the House Republicans in Congress will be devastating to Connecticut residents,” Scanlon said. “Whether it’s removing the ban on discrimination for pre-existing conditions, allowing seniors to be charged five times more than young people, gutting Medicaid treatment for substance abuse in the midst of an opioid epidemic or eliminating funding for women's health care, this bill is going to hurt people across our state. As chair of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, I look forward to working with the Malloy administration, Insurance Commissioner Katharine Wade and my colleagues in the legislature to mitigate this heartless policy and protect Connecticut residents’ access to quality, affordable health care.”
