Water Company Schedules Guilford Meeting On Ongoing Projects

The majority of the funds will be invested to replace water mains, some of which are more than 100 years old.

GUILFORD, CT - The Connecticut Water Company is hosting a Public Information Meeting on Tuesday, June 4, 7:30 p.m. at the Guilford Community Center to discuss a slate of projects it plans to accomplish in 2019 and 2020 to address aging infrastructure in town.

In 2019 and 2020, Connecticut Water will be investing approximately $6 million to address aging infrastructure in Guilford.

The majority of the funds will be invested to replace water mains, some of which are more than 100 years old. The Clapboard Hill water tank is scheduled for demolition because it is no longer needed and expensive to maintain.

Three water main projects are scheduled for 2019.
 The first phase is tentatively scheduled after the Fourth of July Holiday and would be on Boston Street (Route 146) between Route 1 and Union Street.
 The second phase would be Water Street between the causeway and Jacob’s Lane.
 The third phase in 2019 would be the replacement of the water main on the Water Street bridge.
Work hours are expected to be Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., but are subject to approval by the Connecticut DOT.
