Citizen's Tips Lead to Drug Arrest

A Hamden man was arrested last week on charges he was operating a drug factory after citizens tipped off police.

 

Tips from the public helped Hamden Police led to the arrest of a Hamden man last week on charges he was running a drug factory, according to police.

Members of the Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team and Patrol Division executed a search and seizure warrant at 32 Lynmoor Place in Hamden last Tuesday, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Officers confiscated approximately 22 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $486 in cash, Smith said.

They also arrested Hamden resident Carlos Burgos, 21, who was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Operating a Drug Factory.

He was held in lieu of $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 20.

"The Hamden Police Department would like to note that this investigation was made possible by numerous concerned citizens sharing information over the course of several months," Smith said. "The team work and cooperation demonstrated led to a successful investigation which resulted in this arrest."
