Hamden To Celebrate The Life Of Fatman Scoop
The town will celebrate the life of Fatman Scoop, who died after suffering a medical emergency on stage in Hamden, with a candlelight vigil.
HAMDEN, CT — The Town of Hamden will celebrate the life of Isaac Freeman III, also known as Fatman Scoop, at a candlelight vigil on Friday, Sept. 6 at Town Center Park.
Freeman died Aug. 30 after suffering a medical emergency while performing during the Summer Concert Series at Hamden Town Center Park.
New York native Fatman Scoop, known for his booming voice, was a hype man and radio personality with several guest performances on various hip-hop songs that have topped charts.

“I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Isaac Freeman III, known as Fatman Scoop,” Mayor Lauren Garrett said in a statement. “He was a wonderful performer with a wide following as evidenced by his millions of fans that adored him world-wide.”

In the wake of this tragic loss, we invite grieving family, friends, fans, and community members to join us for a public candlelight vigil to honor and celebrate the life of Fatman Scoop.
Public Candlelight Vigil to Honor Isaac Freeman III, also known as Fatman Scoop
- Friday, September 6, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Hamden’s Town Center Park, 2761 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT 06518
*In the event of inclement weather, the vigil will take place at Thornton Wilder Auditorium
Licensed grief counselors will be present as well as the Hamden Police Department social worker to offer support and connect to services for those processing and mourning this loss.
A series of speakers will pay tribute to and celebrate the life and memory of Fatman Scoop, and candles will be provided for a communal lighting. A moment of silence will follow.
To park, please enter Town Center Park through the Hamden Middle School, 2623 Dixwell Ave. Parking can also be found at the Miller Cultural Complex, 2901 Dixwell Ave.
