A Hamden man previously convicted of sexual assault charges is facing more legal trouble after he allegedly failed to update his address for the state Sex Offender Registry.
The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Sex Offender Registry Unit notified Hamden Police that Maurice Brown, 36, of 2364 State St., Apt. #30, was out of compliance with the unit, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
"Brown had failed to verify his address on three occasions," Smith said in a release Thursday. "He was previously convicted of Sexual Assault in the 4th Degree."

Sergeant Colin Kearns conducted an investigation and applied for an arrest warrant for Brown, Smith said. On Thursday, Brown turned himself in to police, Smiths said, and was charged with three counts of Failure of a Convicted Sex Offender to Verify Address.
Brown was held in lieu of a court ordered $50,000 bond and was arraigned today, Smith said.
