The Hamden Historical Society will present a program by Bob O'Brien on local soldiers and veterans of the Civil War on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Miller Memorial Library's Senior Hall.
A Hamden resident, Mr. O'Brien is a retired attorney and Civil War buff who has collected volumes of information and artifacts over the years and enjoys sharing that information with others.
The program will center on "The 20th Connecticut, Gettysburg and Private George Washington Warner." Warner, who lost both arms in friendly fire, became a businessman, husband and father of eight children. His descendants continue to have a presence in our state.
The program is free and open to the public. The building at 2901 Dixwell Ave. is handicap accessible. Enter from the rear of the building. Light refreshments will be served.
