Hamden Land Conservation Trust Offers Walk Through Olin's Powder Farm

Join the Hamden Land Conservation Trust for a guided Nature Walk through Olin's Powder Farm in Hamden on Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m..

This is a leisurely walk through 102 acres of forest, lakes and trails which abuts the Farmington Canal Greenway.

The walk will be led by Hamden Land Conservation Trust members. We will look for birds as well as fall foliage while discussing the history of the property.

The property was used during World War ll for munitions testing. Bunkers used for storing gun powder can still be seen along the trails.

Sponsored by the Hamden Land Conservation Trust  and Olin Corp., this hidden gem located on Putnam Avenue a quarter mile east of Dixwell Avenue in Hamden is usually closed to the public.

Park at Stop and Shop on Dixwell Avenue and walk to the gate. Admission is free and open to the public. Rain will cancel the event.
