Hamden Man Charged in Robbery at Gunpoint

A Hamden man was arrested on a warrant Friday for allegedly pointing a gun to the head of a person while robbing them.

The incident happened on Jan. 30, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith, in the parking lot of 1245 Dixwell Ave.

According to Smith, the victim, a 20-year-old Hamden resident, was talking with an acquaintance in the lot when the acquaintance offered the victim a ride.

After the victim got into the car, a man sitting in the backseat of the car, identified as Timothy Walker, 18, of 108 Ingleside Drive, Hamden, "then allegedly held a firearm to the victim’s face and demanded his belongings," Smith said. "Upon approaching First Street, the victim was thrown from the vehicle."

Det. Michael DePalma conducted an investigation, Smith said, which resulted in the issuance of an arrest warrant for Walker.

On Friday Walker turned himself in at police headquarters, Smith said, and was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.

Walker was held in lieu of $150,000 court set bond and was taken directly to Meriden Superior Court for arraignment, Smith said.

Det. DePalma is continuing the investigation, Smith said.
