Hamden Obituaries: Charles J. Shalagan

Charles J. Shalagan, 90, of Hamden, husband of the late Stella Yerema Shalagan for 59 years, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

He was the father of Edward (Laurie) Shalagan and Ronald Shalagan and beloved grandfather of Margaret and Roman. He also leaves behind his brother John Shalagan.

Charles graduated from New Haven Commercial High School in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Charles worked for Western Electric for 43 years.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Ave. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 569 George Street, New Haven. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
