Gloria Vaughn, 74, of Wintergreen Ave, Hamden, passed away on Sept. 8, 2013, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
She was born on May 27, 1939 in Georgetown, SC to the late Hammond Heyward and Phyllis (Washington) Heyward.
Gloria was a loving and devoted wife to John Vaughn for 54 years. She was retired from Bayer Pharmaceuticals.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Deloris Vaughn of Hamden; brother, David Heyward of Hamden; sisters, Mary Brown of Brooklyn, NY., Sarah Wearing of New Haven, and Barbara Vaught of Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Joyce Vaughn; son, Leander Vaughn; brothers, Hammond Heyward, Jr., Prince Heyward and Robert Heyward; sisters, Beatrice Deas Morant, Corine Deas, Lillian Greggs and Olivia Neal.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Friday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Chapel Church of Christ, 30 White Street, New Haven, with calling hours Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be held at Beaverdale Memorial Park.
