Hamden Police Investigating Morse Street Robbery
A man injured a woman and stole her wallet after attempting to steal bags she was carrying, according to police.

Hamden Police are investigating a street robbery that happened last Tuesday afternoon on Morse Street.
At about 4:15 p.m., a woman parked her car in front of her home when a man approached her and ordered her to give him her bags, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

"The individual then grabbed her shoulders as she screamed for help," Smith said in a release. "He then pushed her and took the bags. The victim subsequently took $20 from her wallet and pleaded with the individual to leave her bags, which contained school supplies. The individual then stole her wallet and left her bags."
The man got into a tan colored van and took off, going the wrong way down Morse Street, which is a one-way street, Smith said. The victim suffered a shoulder injury, he said.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, between 40 to 60 years old, about 6’ tall with a stocky build, Smith said. He was wearing a brown jacket at the time of the incident, Smith said.
Det. Brian Stewart of the Hamden Police Department Detective Division is conducting the investigation, Smith said.
