Joyce Rice Grelle, 86

Joyce Rice Grelle, 86, of Hamden, the wife of 57 years of the late Richard Daniel Grelle, died Feb. 1, 2013. 

She was the mother of Richard Royce Grelle of Euless, TX, Mary Jane Grelle-McGaffin of Hamden, and Frank Daniel Grelle of Meriden, and the grandmother of Mary E. Mattheis and Kate M. Dwyer. She also was the sister of the late Marjorie Canfield and Melvin W. Rice.

Joyce was born in New Haven on April 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Frank D. and Mabel Key Rice, and had lived in West Haven for 25 years before moving to Hamden in 1977. She was a former member of Our Lady of Victory Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Her funeral service will be Monday, Feb. 4, at Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery.
