Obituary: Neil G. Vegliante, Jr., 87, formerly of Hamden

HAMDEN, CT - (From Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home) Neil G Vegliante, Jr age 87, of Little River, South Carolina formerly a longtime resident of Hamden, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

He graduated from Notre Dame High School class of 1951 and Providence College class of 1955.

He is survived by the love of his life, Diane Vegliante (Kennedy) they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in May 2020.

He is also, survived by his four children. Neil Vegliante III his wife Esther and their son Matthew of Bethany, CT; Rhonda Vegliante of Branford, CT; John (Jack) Vegliante and his wife Tracey of East Haven, CT and Jack’s daughter Brittany of Wallingford, CT; and Cheryl Higgins and her husband Shawn of East Hartland, CT.

Neil was a former Manager at Bob Thomas Ford in Hamden for many years before retirement. Neil is known for his love of music, listening to Frank Sinatra, “Big Band” and jazz.

He played the drums at Notre Dame High School and while in college he played in a band.

He loved sports: basketball, football, hockey, and baseball; his favorite team was the New York Yankees.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
