Police Investigating Putnam Avenue Street Robbery
A man was walking on Putnam Avenue Wednesday night when a car pulled up and a man jumped out and attacked him, trying to rob him, according to police.

Hamden Police are searching for the person responsible for a street robbery that happened Wednesday night in the area of Dixwell and Putnam avenues.
At about 9 p.m., a 66-year-old Hamden man was walking on Putnam Avenue when a car "abruptly" stopped in front of him and a man got out and demanded his belongings, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

The suspect, who is described as a dark-skinned male, 20 to 30 years old, 6’2” with a large build, began fighting with the victim as he tried to take his belongings, Smith said, but the victim was able to fight off the attack and wasn't hurt.

Officer Michael Nawrocki conducted the initial investigation, Smith said.
