Police, Youth Services Host "Discovery Dances"

These inclusive dances are open to youth ages 13-21 of all abilities.

The Hamden Police Department, in collaboration with the Hamden Youth Center, a program of the Hamden Youth Services Bureau, will host two Discovery Dances in April.

The first, to be held on Friday, April 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will be a “Cupid Shuffle” theme. The second April dance will be held on Friday, April 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will be themed “Walk the Red Carpet Hollywood Style.”

Both dances will be held in the gym of the Hamden Youth Center, located at the Hamden Board of Education Building, 60 Putnam Ave., Hamden (back of the building entrance).

These inclusive dances are open to youth ages 13-21 of all abilities, with chaperones, in order to ensure success. Entertainment and music will be provided by DJ Joe. In addition, participants will enjoy a variety of activities, games and refreshments prepared by a group of Police Officers and Youth Center members. Future dances will be held on May 10 and June 14.

This program is made possible by a Police and Youth Grant. For admission, participants are asked to bring nonperishable food items to be donated to the Hamden Food Bank. Because of limited capacity, pre-registration is required.
