For more than 20 years the HHS-PTSA has hosted an After-Prom event for the HHS graduating seniors and their Prom guests. The After-Prom is held on the HHS Campus and attended by more than 500 students. It is an alcohol- and drug-free event where the graduating seniors and their dates can enjoy themselves in a safe environment as an alternative for making plans to go from party to party after the Prom has ended.
The event, starting at midnight and ending at 4 a.m., is well chaperoned and offers plenty to do. This year’s After-Prom theme will be James Bond/007. The hallways of HHS will be transformed into a party atmosphere with themed decorations, a DJ for dancing, food in the cafeteria, an obstacle course in the gym and a comedic hypnotist.

As in past years, HHS PTSA hopes to make this event free to all who attend. Parents, business and residents are asked to volunteer, attend After-Prom fundraisers and consider a donation to defray cost of this “Positive” event.
Donations should be made payable to HHS-PTSA After-Prom and mailed to HHS-PTSA After-Prom, Hamden High School, 2040 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06514.
Hamden Youth Advisory Council (HYAC) and their “Positive Choices” Campaign to prevent underage drinking and drug use supports the HHS-PTSA After-Prom event. Events such as these are instrumental in encouraging Hamden youth to make “Positive Choices.”
For more information about HYAC’s “Positive Choices” Campaign, contact Beth Chiarillo, Town of Hamden Youth Services Bureau, at (203) 777-2610 ext. 137.
