This Week in Hamden

Today is Monday, Sept. 16 and here's what's going on in Hamden:

— There's a chance of showers today but the forecast for the rest of the week calls for sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s to mid-70s before rain returns this weekend.

— The Hamden Youth Center is holding open enrollment for students in grades six through 12 for the 2013-14 school year. The center offers homework help, arts and crafts, games, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, open gym, basketball, dance, cheer, special guests and more. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. according to the Hamden Public School calendar. Free after school bus transportation provided to the Youth Center (on a limited basis) from Ridge Hill Elementary, Hamden Middle School and Hamden High School. For more information or to register contact Christine Wilson at cwilson@hamden.com or call  203 288-5333. — On Thursday, the Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 7 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Conference Room, Hamden Government Center, 2750 Dixwell Ave. Find the agenda here.

— On Saturday it's the annual Whitneyville Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of Whitney and Putnam avenues at the Church Green. There will be items for sale by local artisans, live music by local musicians, food and drink, information tables by community groups, kids' fun activities and more.
