Bloomfield Youth Football Player Dies After Collapsing At Practice
Officials said the Bloomfield Junior Warhawk football team player collapsed during practice on Wednesday.
BLOOMFIELD, CT — A Bloomfield youth football player has died after collapsing during a team practice this week, officials announced Friday.
In a statement posted on social media, Interim Superintendent Bethany Silver and Town Manager Alvin D. Schwapp Jr. said the Bloomfield Junior Warhawk football team player collapsed Wednesday night. According to officials, he could not be revived despite attempts by staff and medical personnel.
Officials did not identify the student but said he was a freshman who began the year at Bloomfield High School before recently transferring to Manchester High School.

"This tragic loss has deeply affected our community, and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time," officials said.
In a separate statement released Friday, New England Pop Warner Football & Cheer called the student's death an "unimaginable loss."

"(He) was more than an extraordinary athlete — he was a friend, a source of inspiration, and a guiding light for his team," the organization said. "His impact was felt both on and off the field, and his memory will forever remain a part of us."
Bloomfield officials said counseling services will be available on Monday at Bloomfield High and Carmen Arace Schools.
"We are committed to ensuring that our students and staff have access to the resources they need during this challenging time," officials said.
