'Capitol Hearts' Organizer Raising Money To Install Tribute Again
"We'll be putting the hearts up again on May 28 in Bushnell Park in Hartford, CT, along with hundreds more.....hopefully," the founder said.
HARTFORD, CT — Jazna Stannard, who last year decorated the Connecticut State Capitol lawn with wooden hearts to thank essential workers, hopes to do the same again this year — but she needs money to fund the project.
The hearts are 8 feet x 8 feet and have messages like "unity," "love" and "strength" written on them. Last year, she collaborated with MakerspaceCT to create them.
"It's also a nod to essential workers who gave their time, their love to fight COVID-19. Also, to remember those who passed on too soon," Stannard told WTNH last May. "Also, the words of inspiration to try to unify our community and our country in these turbulent times."

Now, Stannard has created a GoFundMe to help her raise money for another round of the hearts, which she hopes to install later this month.
"We'll be putting the hearts up again on May 28th in Bushnell Park in Hartford, CT, along with hundreds more.....hopefully," Stannard wrote in her GoFundMe. "I need your help to get there. Any donation you can make really goes a long way."

Stannard is hoping to raise $2,000, and is asking for donations to help celebrate her upcoming birthday. So far, she has raised $245 from seven donors.
