Man Struck And Killed In Hartford Hit-And-Run Saturday: Police

The victim, described as a male in his 50s, was struck by two vehicles, one of which fled the scene.

HARTFORD, CT — A male pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday night in Hartford by two vehicles, with one of the vehicles fleeing the scene.

The Hartford Police Department said the incident happened at about 9:37 p.m. at 799 Albany Ave.

That's when officers were called to a report of a serious motor vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash.

"Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian, a male in his 50s, was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries," wrote the HPD in a release.

Preliminary investigation determined the pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Albany Avenue.

Police said the man was struck by a second vehicle traveling westbound.

The operator of the eastbound vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police, but the westbound vehicle fled the scene and was later located.

The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division responded and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
