Cash Snatched From Customer At East Hartford Bank, One Charged, One Suspect At Large: EHPD

The incident happened to an elderly couple waiting in line at a bank branch on Tuesday afternoon.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Local police said a woman has been charged in connection with a disturbing theft at a local bank branch on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the East Hartford Police Department, at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, an elderly couple was waiting in line at the Santander Bank branch at 934 Silver Lane, East Hartford, with close to $1,600 in their possession.

Police said a male suspect then "grabbed the cash" from the older male while inside and fled the bank on foot.

Police said Wednesday the department is still searching for the male suspect who snatched the cash.

The EHPD, however, said a woman has been located and charged in connection with the crime.

Police identified her as Meaghan Sullivan, who was with the male suspect at the time of the crime.

Sullivan was charged with interfering with a police officer, police said.

The EHPD said no one was injured in the incident, and no weapon was shown.
