HARTFORD, CT — A prominent Hartford-area hospital has recently earned a major accreditation award as it helps its patients battle cancer.
Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in radiation oncology.

The designation comes after a recent review by the American College of Radiology.

A radiation oncologist may use radiation to cure cancer or to relieve a cancer patient’s pain.
“We are proud to be once again recognized by the American College of Radiology for the exceptional care we provide to our radiation oncology patients,” said Valerie Powell-Stafford,
president of Saint Francis Hospital, which is operated by Trinity Health.
“This accomplishment is a credit to the hard work and dedication of our providers and their commitment to offering the highest quality of cancer care to our community.”
The ACR is the nation’s oldest and most widely accepted radiation oncology accrediting body, with over 700 accredited sites, and 30 years of accreditation experience.
