Hartford-Area Hospital Earns Accreditation For Cancer Treatments

HARTFORD, CT — A prominent Hartford-area hospital has recently earned a major accreditation award as it helps its patients battle cancer.

Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in radiation oncology.

The designation comes after a recent review by the American College of Radiology.

Radiation oncology, or radiation therapy, is the careful use of high-energy radiation to treat cancer.

A radiation oncologist may use radiation to cure cancer or to relieve a cancer patient’s pain.

president of Saint Francis Hospital, which is operated by Trinity Health.

The ACR is the nation’s oldest and most widely accepted radiation oncology accrediting body, with over 700 accredited sites, and 30 years of accreditation experience.
