Hartford-Area Hospital Honored For Heart Failure Treatment
The hospital had the lowest readmission rate of heart failure patients in Connecticut.

HARTFORD, CT – A prominent hospital in Connecticut's capital city was recently honored for its treatment of those suffering from heart failure.
Over a three-year reporting period, Saint Francis Hospital, 14 Woodland St., Hartford, led the state in achieving the lowest readmission rate for heart failure patients, based on data provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the hospital reported last week.

According to Saint Francis, between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2024, Saint Francis ranked first out of 26 hospitals statewide that reported, and was the only hospital with a better average than the national rate.
With its “Better than Average” numbers, Saint Francis ranked 49th nationally among over 3,200 hospitals across the country.

Per CMS data, Saint Francis had a readmission rate of 17.4 percent, better than the National Readmission Rate Average of 19.7 percent.
The heart failure program at the Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute has earned both national and regional recognition for excellence in patient care, achieving certification in Advanced
Heart Failure by the Joint Commission, according to Saint Francis.
