Hartford-Based Hospital Earns Major Honors For Heart Attack/Stroke Treatment
The hospital was recently honored by the American Heart Association for its treatment programs.

HARTFORD, CT — A prominent local hospital has earned a major designation from the American Heart Association for its treatment of heart failure/stroke victims.
Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford earned recognition from the American Heart Association for following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart failure and stroke, "ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times, and fewer readmissions to the hospital," the hospital wrote earlier this month.

This year, Saint Francis received "Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus Awards for Heart Failure and Stroke."
Additionally, Saint Francis also earned the American Heart Association’s "Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll" award, along with both Gold Plus Awards.

"Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll" aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to heart disease or stroke.
Early stroke detection and treatment are key to improving survival, minimizing disability and accelerating recovery times.
