Police said Williams is accused of killing 56-year-old Yakpoaro Kollie of Sisson Avenue in Hartford back on Sept. 13, 2024.

At about 7:37 p.m. that night, police said HPD officers were dispatched to 1072 Capitol Ave. after a resident called 911 to report a shooting.

When police arrived, a gunshot victim was found "unresponsive in the roadway," police wrote in a release issued Thursday, July 31, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions assumed the investigation.

During the subsequent probe, a suspect was developed and probable cause established, police said.

As a result, an arrest warrant was drafted and approved in Hartford Superior Court, and Williams was charged while serving time for another crime.

According to online court records, Williams is in custody after being charged Dec. 20, 2024, with second-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, and risk of injury to a child.

On Jan. 14, court records indicate Williams was charged with attempting to commit larceny of a motor vehicle. He was then charged with larceny of a motor vehicle on April 2, records show.

His combined bond for all of those allegations is $170,000.
