Live, Painted Squirrels Cause Uproar In East Hartford: Animal Control

East Hartford's animal control department wants to get to the bottom of why colored squirrels are starting to be seen in town.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — It's not clear if folks seeing red and blue squirrels in East Hartford means even wildlife is getting political during these divided times, but the town wants to know what's up.

The East Hartford Animal Control Department on Monday posted images of two squirrels — one red, one blue — frolicking around the town, reportedly.

According to the town's animal control department, the squirrels appear to have been painted, and they were seen in the area of Naubuc Avenue and High Street.
