Man, 27, Charged In 2023 Infant Death In Hartford: Reports

The suspect is still being held on $1 million bond.

HARTFORD, CT — The 27-year-old man has been charged by Hartford police in connection with the 2023 death of an infant who was in his care.

According to WFSB Channel 3, Donte Morley, 27, a Jamaican national last living in Florida, was taken into custody March 20 regarding the April 2023 death of the infant.

Morley was charged with first-degree manslaughter and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to online court records.

Records show Morley is still being held on $1 million bond, with his next court appearance expected April 22 in Hartford Superior Court.

Fox 61 reported the charges were officially handed down Monday, with no details available as to the suspect's relationship to the child.

Fox 61 reported Morley was living in the same apartment in Hartford at the time of the death, and he shared the same surname as the child.

No details about the manner or cause of death have been revealed, Fox 61 reported, but the state medical examiner did rule the death to be a homicide.
