Mothers United Against Violence to Host Vigil in Wake of Recent Tragedies
The vigil will be held Tuesday, July 12 at Hartford City Hall at 6 p.m.

Mothers United Against Violence will hold a vigil on Tuesday, July 12 at Hartford City Hall, located at 550 Main St., at 6 p.m. in the wake of the deadly events in Falcon Heights, Minn., where the life of Philando Castile was taken; in Baton Rouge, where the life of Alton Sterling was taken and in Dallas, where the lives of five police officers—Brent Thompson, 43, Patrick Zamarripa, 32, Michael Krol, 40, Lorne Ahrens, 48, and Michael Smith, 55— as well as the life of the shooter were ended.
The shooter in Dallas, Micah Xavier Johnson, has been variously described as a "demented individual" by President Obama and as "a good kid" by Avis Blanton, who lived next door to Johnson and his family for more than 12 years in Mesquite. In an interview Friday, she said she believes Johnson "just snapped."
