Photos: Travelers Unveils New Employee Cafeteria

Workers coming back to the insurance company's Hartford office are greeted with a new dining area made up of 10 food and drink stations.

HARTFORD, CT — Travelers employees are currently working either full-time from the office or in a hybrid model, and workers returning to Travelers Plaza in Hartford are greeted with an updated cafeteria that offers 10 food and drink stations.

The 53,000-square-foot dining center seats up to 700 people, and it offers a wide range of food: Salads, sandwiches, Korean BBQ, pizza, burgers, soup, Latin American cuisine and more.

It's open from 7-9:30 a.m. for breakfast and from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for lunch. The coffee shop and juice bar are open from 7 a.m.-4 p.m., while a grab-and-go Plaza Market is open 24/7.

"The pandemic created changes to the way companies work, but it also provided an opportunity at Travelers to enhance the workspace and give employees helpful features that assist in their creativity, comfortability and productivity," Travelers officials said. "That included a redesigned cafeteria."

The cafeteria has grab-and-go and touchless self-checkout areas and offers collaborative spaces for groups and conferencing, officials said.

And it's eco-friendly: It boasts an indoor hydroponic garden and recycling bins, and its utensils and food containers are 100 percent biodegradable and compostable.
