EAST HARTFORD, CT — A 25-year-old Hartford woman died in a car crash in East Hartford late Thursday night, police said.

According to state police, at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday she was driving in the right shoulder of Route 2 eastbound, east of exit 5, when her car swerved into the right lane and sideswiped another car.

The impact caused her to lose control, and the car traveled across the highway and hit the metal beam guardrail in the left shoulder. The car then went through the guardrail and down a grassy embankment in the median, hit a large stump, then stopped at the bottom of the embankment, police said.
