Manchester, CT — This year marks 30 incredible years of training, growth, and community at The Academy of Martial Arts & Personal Development. The Academy proudly celebrated the milestone with an Awards Dinner Dance honoring students, instructors, and community supporters who have been part of its journey over the past three decades.
“Our 30th Anniversary is not just about martial arts — it’s about celebrating the community we’ve built together,” said Grandmaster Joel Waldron “We’re grateful for every student, past and present, and we’re excited to welcome new faces into our Academy family.”
Special Anniversary Classes
To continue the celebration, the Academy is hosting a series of special anniversary classes throughout October. Open to all past and current students, these fun, light, and welcoming, sessions are perfect for reconnecting the Academy family.

Open Community Classes
In addition to alumni-focused training, the Academy will host open community classes in November, inviting the public to step onto the mat and experience martial arts firsthand. These classes are a chance for anyone — whether completely new to martial arts or simply curious — to train in a supportive, family-friendly environment.
Community Self-Defense Seminar
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Academy will host a Self-Defense Seminar open to the public. Participants will learn practical safety strategies for everyday life, regardless of experience level. Please register here.

Giving Back: Community Food Drive
As part of its anniversary celebration, the Academy is running a community food drive throughout October to support local families in need. Donations can be dropped off at the Academy during business hours.
