After 18 years of dedicated service to the Town of Manchester, we proudly recognize and honor Sgt. David Roy is retiring from the Manchester Police Department. Sgt. Roy was formally presented with his retiree badge by Chief Darby this morning, with family and coworkers there to congratulate him.
Throughout his distinguished career, Sgt. Roy served in numerous key roles, including Field Training Officer, Department Training Officer, and, following his 2015 promotion, a Patrol Sergeant and Training Sergeant. His commitment to service extended far beyond patrol—he has been a vital member and supervisor of our ATV Unit, a PEER Support member, a member of the Honor Guard and the Bicycle Unit, and an operator of the Mobile Command Post supporting CREST.
Sgt. Roy’s impact on our community reaches even further through his long-standing work with the Manchester Police Athletic League (PAL). For 14 years, he has served as a dedicated Judo Coach, helping foster positive relationships between our youth and police while strengthening the community bonds we value so highly.
Sgt. Roy has been the kind of supervisor and leader who never hesitated to step up—always willing to help and always putting his officers, the agency, and the community first. His leadership, teamwork, and unwavering commitment will truly be missed.
While Sgt. Roy is leaving Manchester PD, he isn’t leaving law enforcement. We are proud to share that he will continue his career with the Central Connecticut State University Police Department, where we know he will bring the same passion for community engagement and public service.
Please join us in congratulating Sgt. David Roy on his retirement from Manchester PD and wishing him all the best in this next chapter. Thank you, Sgt. Roy, for your exceptional service and dedication. You will be missed!
