3 New Police Recruits Sworn In By Meriden Police Department
The recruits will be attending their basic training academy this week, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — Three new police officer recruits were sworn in by the Meriden Police Department on Wednesday morning.
The recruits will be attending their basic training academy on Jan. 17, according to police.

Madalin Morley graduated Berlin H.S. in 2019. She attended Manchester Community College and Lincoln Technical Institute where she received her Medical Assistance certification in 2022. She was a member of the New Britain police explorer for 4 years and left at the rank of sergeant. She was also a member of the "Young Marines" for 6 years and left at the rank of sergeant as well. During her time as a young marine, she received a life-saving award.
Madalin has experience in wrestling, ji Jitsu and judo. Madalin is passionate about helping people and making a positive impact in the community

Spencer Gilbody is a native of Middletown, Connecticut who graduated from Middletown High School in 2013 and earned his Bachelor's degree in Linguistics at University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2016 with concentrations in Spanish and Portuguese. Spencer then began his professional career in education as an elementary STEM teacher; for the past seven years he has worked in Hartford, Bridgeport, and Middletown schools. He also worked briefly as a personal and group trainer at the YMCA. Now he is pursuing a career in law enforcement in his pursuit to further serve his local communities in a different capacity.
Brian Florin-Linares was born in El Salvador, and came to the United States when he was 5 years old. Raised in East Hartford, and graduated East Hartford High School in 2017. He attended Manchester Community College to study criminal justice, with the purpose to one day accomplish my dream to serve and protect the community. Over the past five years he worked in the manufacturing industry, gaining experience of being a leader, working alongside others. Brian is bilingual with the ability to read and write in Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, bring his dogs out on hikes, work out, play soccer and also coach soccer.
