Former Sears Store At Meriden Mall Hitting The Auction Block
The anchor retail space at the Meriden Mall is going up for auction next month.
MERIDEN, CT — The former Sears department store and automotive center at the Meriden Mall is hitting the auction block next month, according to the Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reported that the former anchor store, which has been vacant for more than five years, is going up for auction starting at 12 noon on May 6.
The property, which is situated on 7.8 acres, includes the 120,096-square-foot two-level former Sears retail building and the 16,835-square-foot former auto center building.

The bidding starts at $750,000, according to the listing.
“Strategically positioned directly off exits 5 and 6 on I-691, with a high daily traffic count of 37,000 ADT, this property boasts excellent visibility and accessibility,” the listing states. “Co-anchored by renowned retailers Boscov's, TJ Maxx, and Best Buy. The property is owned by TF Meriden CT, part of a Sears real estate investment firm in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, while the remainder of the Meriden Mall is separately owned by Namdar Realty, according to the Record-Journal.
