MERIDEN, CT — With the Dec. 31 deadline fast approaching, the City of Meriden Department of Health and Human Services is offering extended hours at its Public Health Clinic (165 Miller Street) to make it more convenient for young kids to get their annual flu shots.
The Connecticut Department of Public Health requires kids, ages 6 months to 5 years old who attend pre-kindergarten, a licensed childcare center, group day care homes, or family day care, to get an annual flu shot by Dec. 31.

Meriden residents ages 18 and younger, regardless of their health insurance status, may get a free flu shot at the City of Meriden’s Department of Health and Human Services’ Public Health Clinic.
"Family schedules are busy this time of year, so we’ve extended our hours to help them meet the deadline,” said Lea Crown, MPH, Director of Health and Human Services. “While it’s required by the state, it’s important for caregivers to remember that the flu shot protects kids from severe illness from the influenza virus and complications like pneumonia.”
