Girls Incorporated of Meriden, Boys & Girls Club Awarded Grants

Cox Communications recently presented close to $133,000 in Cox Charities grants to 11 nonprofit organizations throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.    The organizations were selected to receive grants by a group of elected officials, community partners and business leaders for providing quality after-school programming that benefits the education and development of youth.

Cox Charities, a charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications, has invested more than $5.6 million in grants and in-kind support to more than 130 organizations throughout Rhode Island and Connecticut since 2001. 

“Giving back to the community is more than just a commitment. It’s a way of life for our employees and our business,” said John Wolfe, senior vice president and general manager, Cox Northeast. “We applaud these organizations for their commitment to helping our youth succeed. Cox is proud to provide these grants and additional visibility to support the great work being done in our community.”

“The grant from Cox Charities for our On The Move program, will benefit middle school girls in the Meriden community,” said Michelle Bourdeau, executive director for Girls Incorporated of Meriden. “Providing a comprehensive afterschool environment with homework assistance, Literacy components and fun interactive programming to keep girls in a safe and nurturing environment as we inspire them to be Strong, Smart, and Bold.” '

  • Save The Bay, Inc.
  • South Kingstown CARES
